Public workers in New Jersey would also be required to live in the Garden State under a newly proposed bill. The measure by Democratic state Senator Donald Norcross of Brooklawn requires workers to move to New Jersey within 30 months. New employees would have four months to establish residency. The bill applies to state, county, municipal employees and those working for political subdivisions of the state. Employees of public authorities, boards, agencies and commissions would also be subject to the measure. So would anyone working within the educational system, including state colleges and universities. Norcross says it's only fair that employees who make money off the state live and pays taxes in the state. Public worker unions worry that it could set off a border war. Governor Chris Christie supports the idea.
