State continues to lose private sector jobs



New Jersey employers continued to trim payrolls in January as total employment fell by 9,100 jobs over the month. The private sector accounted for all the losses, while the public sector added 600 jobs. The state's unemployment rate for January fell by 0.1 percentage point to 9.9 percent. The national rate was 9.7 percent for the month.
