Former tax collection firm executive pleads guilty
The former sales director of a firm that once collected delinquent taxes for New Jersey has admitted offering an illegal gift to a state official and concealing overbilling by her company. Sandra Bielanski of Hillsborough pleaded guilty to offering an illegal benefit to a public servant and tampering with public records. Under the plea agreement, the state Division of Criminal Justice will recommend a 364-day jail term as a condition of probation. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 8. Bielanski was charged in an August 2006 indictment accusing three state Division of Taxation employees, including 42 year old Jackson resident Carol Labe. Those charges are pending.
