NJ senators ask President Obama to approve "snow aid"
New Jersey's two U.S. senators are asking President Obama to approve the request to have the eight southern counties hit hardest by the Feb. 5-6 snow storm declared federal disaster areas. Senators Bob Menendez and Frank Lautenberg made the request in a letter to the president. It notes that some of the affected areas received more than 2 feet of snow. Counties included in the request are Ocean, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem. If approved, the declaration would free up emergency federal funding to reimburse costs associated with cleanup and repair work.
